Network Vision
The following vision for the Australasian Regional Network of CPSG was developed to encapsulate its purpose and underlying philosophy:
CPSG Australasia is a community of conservation practitioners operating to common principles of science-based conservation planning and delivery, centred on inclusivity and collaboration, resulting in healthier wildlife populations across the region.
In support of this vision, CPSG Australasia:
• is a conduit between IUCN SSC CPSG and conservation bodies in the region
• facilitates linkages between wildlife agencies NGOs, researchers in the region
• provides training in IUCN SSC recognised best practise in planning-related disciplines (DRA, group facilitation, small population management)
• provides people to help design and deliver conservation plans
• operates through a team of designated network contacts
• works with diverse stakeholders and
• provides independence and neutrality in planning processes
Goals for the Quadrennium 2013-2016
• To establish an Australasian community of planning practitioners;
• To promote SSC-endorsed planning principles, philosophies and tools across the community;
• To develop mechanisms for exchanging planning experiences within the community;
• To engage the community in the continued development of tools;
• To develop mechanisms for tracking the effectiveness of planning done through the CPSG Australasia community and for using this information to refine planning processes;
• To contribute, wherever possible and appropriate, to broader CPSG initiatives.
